Diff b/w RDBMS and Associate database

can any one explain diff b/w RDBMS and Associate Database.

The fundamental difference is that in an RDBMS table, linkage between tables is defined by the SQL SELECT statement. In the associative DB, linkage is automatic based on like field names.
