Difference in 2 set expression

Please let me know difference between 2 set expression

=sum({<Brand = {"$(=rank(sum(Sales))<=2)"}>}Sales)

=sum({<Brand = {"=rank(sum(Sales))<=2"}>}Sales)

hi

the first expression will evaluate the expression out side your chart

what it mean this expression will be calculated at app level and will try to bring back a number

this method is used when you want to compare to global value like latest month , or max value of a field

in your case the result will be 0

the second expression will create a virtual table with brand as the dimension and evaluate for each brand value his rank

this expression will work
