When using QlikView it appears my window for editing Expressions and Dimensions has disappeared. When I click on Properties, Expressions and click on the 3 little dots to edit the expression the window doesn't show up. If I click anywhere in QlikView I get the beeping sound like the window opened up somewhere and I'm not clicking in it.
I've looked through the forums to find help and tried a couple tricks like using Windows key + Up or Down to maximize the window with no luck. I've also tried the Alt+Space+M to try and move the window back onto the screen but that doesn't work either. I saw some other solutions where you had to have a box checked for the window to show up but I don't see that in my options. I'm running version 12.10.20600.0 SR8 desktop version of QlikView.
Any help would be much appreciated as I am currently unable to edit any of my reports.
Thanks for the suggestion but I've tried that as well. When I only have the qlikview window open and no other windows it selects an icon on my desktop. I've tried multiple restarts, changing the size of the windows, one monitor, two monitors, using my un-docked laptop, removing the taskbar, and nothing seems to work.
In the past I've had the window show up on the far edge of a screen before and I was able to drag it over and use it. This time it seems the window is completely gone.
At this point I think the only option is to try and re install. I have to wait for our IT department to try this but once they finally get back to me I'll see if a re install helps. If that doesn't I don't know what I'll do.
Slowly I'm running out of ideas. Did this happens with all applications? Means - just create a new one without any data and create a textbox and try the expression window again.
- Marcus
It happens on all my dashboards for anything that requires an edit window. So if I try and edit a dimension or expression this happens.
Also with a complete new application? My question goes in the direction if any security settings in the sheet and/or the document may prevent changes on the object-properties.
Further were any settings in the easter egg changed?
- Marcus
Honestly setting up a new application is beyond what I know how to do as I'm just the a user and not a developer or anything. If it is something easy to do I could try but would need some direction.
As for easter egg I wasn't aware there were hidden settings. I was able to open the easter egg menu but didn't see anything that would be causing my issue.
Just wanted to thank everyone for all the help and provide a follow up to the issue.
Finally got a hold of IT and tried a re install but that didn't work. Turns out there was nothing wrong with Qlikview but it was a company issue. They pushed a new Anitvirus/firewall software and only half removed our old one. The old one was blocking access to a server that hosts our Qlikview data. Once IT removed it completely and I restarted everything worked.
I wish I could explain more, but I'm just happy to have it working again. Thanks again for all the help.
