Edit qvw created by another user?

Is it possible to edit a qvw created by another user? We are using a license within QlikView but are having problems opening the qvw of others.

Hello,

yes opening and editing other people's qvw files is certainly possible if you own a Named User license.

If you can't open a QVW file created on another computer then the problem is likely that you are running the Personal (Free) Edition.

See this page for the details/limitations of the Personal Edition: http://community.qlik.com/docs/DOC-1799

It could be as well that you had leased a license from the server in the personal edition and that license has expired in the desktop.  You need to periodically re-lease the license by opening any qvw file with the File --> Open in Server option.  That will lease the license again to you.  I think the license expires in the desktop in 30 days if you have not connected to the server.

Hi,

If you are using personal edition without proper license then it's not possible to open the qvw file created in the licensed version or in the other machine. If you have a proper license then you can open it to view it and if you have the proper data regarding to that application you can alter it also.
