Gannt chart/bar chart edit

Hi ive made a gannt chart (bar chart on its side) for a given project. I can use the chart to show progress by adding in an hours worked expression. the chart results in 2 bars, one for the gannt chart and the other is the hours worked(obviosuly) in an ideal world i would like the hours worked to go over the top of the forecasted hours. this seems like a pointless activity i realise but my gannt charts can have hundreds of tasks and doubling them to show progress simply makes them look ridiculous.

any ideas?
