How to interactively zoom in and out in google map

Dear all,

I need a hand and a slider like the ones shown in the link, which allow me to drag wherever I want and zoom in and out at any zoom levels. http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/examples/map-simple.html

I've checked GoogleMap API, it's way too advanced for me and not QlikView-oriented. Can anyone help me with this? Please provide me some examples at least. Thanks.

Hi Mark,

Thanks a lot for the sample.

But when i type in Acton in the search input box, it will return me no location found.

Did i miss something?

THanks!

You should give the macro's system access, either in the message you get the first time you open the QlikView document, or in the module editor in QlikVIew.

hi Mark,

macro was given system access... i tested the app further and i can search by greenwich but not acton. another issue is when i use search input box, i can't get the map to work when i click at a value in the area listbox...

it's ok if i don't use the search input box... and just use the area listbox but not both... strange...

any idea? thanks!

Hello Kplow,

Thank you for your feedback. I fixed the problem with Acton and uploaded a new version to the Share QlikViews section. By mistake I used Google Maps from Taiwan (http://maps.google.com.tw/) for the search, I don't have a clue why and how this happened. That's why you could only find bigger cities, and not the small ones.. Now I'm using standard Google Maps (http://maps.google.com) for the search, but off course in your case the UK version (http://maps.google.co.uk/) would probably give better results.
The other issue is about the map not adapting to selections, after performing a search. This is because the search function uses it's own variables to adapt the map to the result. That's why I created the fit data to map button. In the standard situation the map is always adapted to the available data, off course this is not suitable for the search funcationality because there is only london data in the example. I just added the search funcation to show what is posstible, but I know the current solution is not always very practical..

regards Mark

Hi Mark,

I downloaded your file and loaded with my own data for testing.

Changes i have madea are resizing the map to 800 from 400. the slide for x & y were 200 & -200, i change them to 800 & -800.

mapping of the bubble works, but not the 3 sliders.

Hope you could guide me on where's the problem?

Thanks.

Hi Mark

Looks great with all the sliders but when I open it the half of the map is white. Anyone else having the same issue? Is there a way to fix it?

Hi Mark,

The illustration for the google map with zoom in and slider very good.

I have a small query here, if i mouse over the map i could see the values are overlapped on to the other.

Is that possible to show only value at a time (though we are placing on a group) if we mouse over the map

Try this one,

I updated the Google API. But take care the map should be squared, otherwise the bubbles wil not be positioned in the right place.
