How to reset access keys when out of recoveries?

I moved a bunch of files to my google drive & quickly realized this will take off my ownership.  So I moved them back and was able to access them after recovering one.  Lately I have been getting random requests to use a recovery to open a file, and I guess I'm all out now.  These are all of my own files on one computer.  I can get into the ones I've recovered, but for some reason it is not recognizing that all of the other files go with these & I can't get in.  Is there a way to reset this so I can associate all of them to the same owner key again?

That will probably be tricky without applying a license or leasing a license to your desktop client. The recovery mechanism is there to limit the usage to evaluation level.

How many documents have you locked your self out from?

Christine,

Toni is correct and the only options I see are to either buy a license and you will be able to open your documents just fine or to have someone with a license export your scripts and variables for you into a text file. Then you will have a good starting point to rebuild your documents.

I feel your pain, as I had a similar issue earlier this year and finally got a license.

I just don't get why they all think I am a different person when they were created on the same computer.  I figured once I recovered one file the rest would match up.  If there isn't a way to just say something like "everything in this folder is owned by user abc123" then there's probably nothing I can do.  I'm the only one using it here, so I can't borrow a license or anything like that.  Maybe if I could evaluate it a bit longer and show people what I've been doing with it I can talk someone into getting a license 😉

If I remember correctly you must be on the same physical machine, same Windows user and same Windows installation for it to count as the same personal edition. Additionally a clean reinstall on QlikView Desktop client might also reset the identity. If someone else saves, and thereby overwrites, the QVW you will also have to recover the QVW for use in Personal Edition.

I understand your situation, but there is unfortunately not much we can do in the way the product works from a licensing point of view. An alternative can be to get in touch with Qlik sales team and discuss further evaluation options.

If you have just started looking at QlikView, then perhaps Qlik Sense can be an alternative for you instead? The Qlik Sense Desktop client comes without the personal edition limitation, and you can freely create, open and share Qlik Sense application (QVF) files. You can re-use your scripts or data model in Qlik Sense, but the graphical interface is different so you will have to rebuild the charts and presentations.
