How to retain the background highlight when drill down to the child level of the table

I have configure the following table to highlight the cell of the table when it is selected. However, it works on the first child (i.e.,BHPSTEEUR) of the parent (BHPSTEELGRP). However, when I drill down to the next child (i.e., BHPSUS), the previous selected parent (BHPSTEELGRP) will lost the highlight. Is there anyway to fix it?
