Is there any way to open a QlikView document without recalculating?

I have a QVW which, upon opening, immediately begins calculating a pivot table.  The X button does not cancel the operation, and if I right-click the object and choose "Remove", nothing happens other than that the app stops maintaining the message pump (i.e., it grays out, on Windows 7).  I've left it for up to 15 minutes with no progress.  Is there any way to open the file without it recalculating, so I have a chance to modify or remove this table?

The file is just 5 MB, 500K rows, and I have plenty of memory (4 GB, with no significant usage), so I don't see why it should be giving QlikView any trouble.  QV 11, SR 1.  The app thrashes the CPU while calculating, but uses less than 100 MB of memory.

Thank you!

The Open without data choice apperas when you right-click on Recently Opened documents in the Start Page.

why don't you just open the document without data? (right clicking on recently opened documents) as there is no data the calculation should't be a problem. as far as i am aware qlikview will always re-calculate all visable objects when you first open a document.

Thanks

No such menu option appears on my system (Win 7, QV 11 SR1 x64).  Indeed, right-clicking the entries in my recent document list in QlikView does not open a menu.

The logical place to put such an option, IMHO, would be the Open menu.  There's already a dropdown on the Open button, with "Show previous versions" as an option; "Open without data", "Open as read-only", "Open without calculating" or just "Open with options..." would be good to have here.  This would also let users open arbitrary files this way, not just the few most recently used.  A busy user can easily push a file off his or her recent list long before noticing that the file has a problem.

Ah!  But not the recent files list from the File menu, nor the shell context menu.  That's a feature that's begging to be overlooked.  Still, now I know!  Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

There seems to be no way to add a working link to the ideas section so if you click at the link above you need to edit the resulting url.
