Issue with bookmarks

Hi,

I have an issue with the bookmarks in one of my apps:

I have two bookmarks in the app, one of them consists of just two selections, the other one consists of three selections.

Whenever I activate one of those bookmarks, however, it seems that only a part of the selections is made (well, it doesn't seem, it is so) - I have to click the bookmark once more, then it works.

<=> The troublesome thing about this is, this is a background-app (it is not supposed to be viewed directly), but only the table_chart is

supposed to be automatically generated by another tool - I can set up a report with a bookmark it is supposed to activate when it

is generated and that seems to work, I have to check.

The thing, it seems, is this: I have to clear all selections and then activate one of the bookmarks, then it works fine.

<=> When I have one of the bookmarks activated and then just click the other one, only a part of the selections is made.

The question is - I have two reports attached to this app and each one uses a different bookmark - can I tell them both to first clear all selections and then activate the bookmark?

Thanks a lot!

Best regards,

DataNibbler

It really seems that I have this strange issue only in the app itself - well, I can live with that, there are enough ways other than bookmarks to effect several selections. The important thing is that as far as I can judge, the reports apply the bookmark in completeness when they are generated.

Thus, the only remaining question is whether that tool of ours can export the reports properly and send them as emails - oh, that reminds me, you asked - I'll send you a PM.

Let's wait for tomorrow and see ...

At the moment I haven't a very practically example but to have applied certain selections must not meant that the amount of possible values behind them is always the same, especially if search-expressions are in use for the selections. One try might be to count the values of these fields and/or to use field-functions like:

getselectedcount / getnotselectedcount / getpossiblecount / getexcludedcount / getalternativcount

Hi Marcus,

I'm still no wiser: The issue with the bookmarks seems to be solved - no, solvable: Reports apply the bookmarks correctly when they are generated, so that would work.

Unfortunately, the report was not sent via email today - it is in the same instance of that tool we have with another one which was sent all right, to myself and others 😉 I have no clue what is the problem. It might be that our Xchange server blocks a second email being sent at the same time to the same person. I'll try that, it is possible to put two exports into one email. Ultimately, that report is intended for someone else of course. I just find it practical to receive emails with all the reports so I can notice immediately if something goes wrong. Well, one thing at a time. Now I'll read up on how I can incorporate two exports in one email and I'll do that and maybe I can have my colleague run it manually rather than wait till tomorrow.

Best regards,

Hi DataNibbler,

to exactly the same time might cause conflicts if there are no queueing or there some timeouts configured or something similar - try to stretch the execution of exporting and/or mailing.

Hi Marcus,

that I cannot do, there is no setting for that - but I can, for now, encompass the two reports that are being sent to myself in one email.

Lateron, maybe I can make one email with all the reports from the same instance of the tool to go to myself and keep that separate from the others.

I'm having trouble with that secondary tool of ours, the exporting of reports as an Excel file does not seem to work yet. I'll have to do some more experimenting with that - but since I cannot do that myself, but I always have to ask a colleague to run the tool, it takes time ...

I'll report back here once we have taken that hurdle.
