Line breaks in text objects on the server

Is there some trick to get line breaks to work on the server? CHR(13) and '\n' work on the desktop but are ignored on the server (at least with ajax).

Hi, using CHR(13) works fine for me on both desktop & server - might this be related to system settings?

Any idea of what system setting might cause that? I haven't changed any formatting options from the default server settings.
