Hi,
I'm having trouble loading the attached spreadsheet into Qlikview. It comes in a heirarchical format where the first row is region name, second row is state name, third row is type of unit and the fourth row has both the date header and names of the units, then the rest of the rows contain the data . If it is possible I would like to have it in the following format in Qlikview:
Date | Region | State | Unit Type | Unit Name | MW |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1/1/2008 | Pacific Northwest | ID | Peaking | Evander | 0 |
... | ... | WA | Non-Peaking | Chehalis | 0 |
... | ... | OR | Peaking | Beaver | 72991 |
Also it would be ideal for me to not have to tweak the spreadsheet at all, if possible.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
I don't see how there would be a work around in this format. Typically Hierarchies are done with a delimiter and in a simpler format for QV to pull in. Merged cells like this horizontal layout wont be easy. The way it would do it is like this;
Pacific Northwest>ID>Peaking>Evander>0
Repeat same on next row.
Then in your list use the > or any symbol you want. It loads very nice and it easy to use by end users.
See here for a solution.
Gysbert - The info in that thread seems to be exactly what I was looking for, thanks!
