Looking for clarity on star-schemas and not using OLAP

Hi,

From what I've been reading, QlikView is not really made to connect to an OLAP cube. It is designed more to connect to a star schema (as a cube would) and do it's magic from there. Although I am new to QlikView, this seems to make a lot of sense. However, I am getting some pushback from other team members insisting that it should be connected to a cube and not the source data.

Is there any "proof" you can direct me to that clearly shows that QlikView should connect to a relational database, setup with a star-schema and not an OLAP cube?

So far, my proof is that there are no built-in drivers to connect to an SSAS cube. Additionally, using the Set Analytics functions, I've recreated what the cube has done, without using it.  But you know these IT types...

Of course, if I have this wrong, please let me know.

Thank you.
