Background: We are making a SharePoint 2010 REST call to pull data from a SP list within the qvw.
The job is scheduled and runs fine, but fails some times may be I would say twice a week (Randomly)
but when we run the job manually the next day morning it completes fine. Even if we wait for next day it completes execution fine.
The error message from the log file
The task "NPP/Reload of Deployed\QVDBuilders\Layer1\QVD_PSIP_Workflow.qvw" failed. Part of the log file follows:
1/5/2015 2:00:03 AM Error The Source Document was NOT reloaded successfully. DocumentPath=F:\QlikView\SourceDocuments\Product_Lines\New_Product_Development\Deployed\QVDBuilders\Layer1\QVD_PSIP_Workflow.qvw.

This is the TaskLog (pretty useless as you can see). If you enabled Generate Log File in Settings->Document Properties->General of document QVD_PSIP_Workflow.qvw, then there should also be a DocumentLog. That may contain the reason why the task fails (once in a while).
Because the QDS keeps 30 days worth of log files, I'm sure you can find one that reports on a failed reload.
Can you post that part?
Peter

Sorry to correct you but previously we (the community) had no clue. Now we do, more or less. You're right that this error message doesn't really tell you much, except that the SharePoint page was either:
There may be other reasons why you are experiencing this problem every so often, but it clearly points to a communications problem. Can you detect a pattern in the times of failure? Is the SP site busy at that time? Is there a backup running, for example at night? Just trying to think of something...
Best,
Peter
