ODBC Error connecting to Excel in QlikView 12

Hello all,

I'm upgrading a user from QlikView 11 to QlikView 12.

When I run the load script, I get an error:

ODBC Excel Driver Login Failed

Cannot update.  Database or object is read only.

If I remove special characters from the excel file name, the load runs fine.  This is not an option for the user.

Can anyone help?

Some more context:

This does not work:

ODBC CONNECT32 TO [ForecastData;DBQ=C:\QVW\Data\Excel\Share\Forecast\Aqua-1 (Irina).xlsx];

This works:

ODBC CONNECT32 TO [ForecastData;DBQ=C:\QVW\Data\Excel\Share\Forecast\Aqua1Irina.xlsx];
