hi,

Is there a way to open .qvw file without data? something like 'Reduce data> remove all values' but prior opening the .qvw and loading it up to the memory.

Hi Dror,

If you already opened the document and it appears in the Start Page, just right click on the name of the file and select "Open 'name of the file.qvw' Without Data".

If not, you will have to use the command line

C:\Program Files\QlikView\qv.exe /nodata C:\Folder\File.qvw

Hope that helps.

Hi,

Thanks for this information. One thing I have noticed, before removing the data from the QVWs, the QV developer loads the entire data into the memory and then creates a file with no data. This is possible for a small file, but this does not work if I try to open a 4+GB file. Is there any better way of taking a QVW template without data?

Thanks,

Hi Miguel,

We have a LOT of archived qvw's and desperately need to free up space.  Is there a way of automating looping through a folder and opening each qvw without data and saving it using a command line script?

Many thanks for your time,

Phil
