Opening application problem

Hello all,

I have a weird problem with one client. She is able to open the app in server at first, but after a while, lets say after a couple of hours when she is accessing the app for the third or fourth time, application doesn't open, only white screen shows and says it is loading.

I have to restart server and then it works fine again but only for a while. Then the same problem occurs.

We don't have similar problems with any other app, just this one.

Could it be meta files corruption?

We thought that she was doing something wrong when closing the app and we fixed it in console that QlikView automatically drops user from application after 30 minutes, but it didn't help at all. I really have no idea.

Does anybody have any experience like this? Any solution?

Check if there are any corrupted book mark files? rename the .shared file for this. Also raise a ticket with QlikTech detailing the issue.

Hi,

which version you are using and check the user accessing through ajax or IE.If it is IE then check IE version ? and try to open the application after deleting the catch of IE. and still you are getting the same issue then try to reistall the QVS.

Hi,

Thanks for input. We are using version 11.20. Access is through ajax. We are deep in production, users are constantly using applications, we can't risk reinstalling QVS at thi time just for one application.

Hi Luka,

Can you give the exact release and build number as 11.2 is now on service release 9.

On the server select   System/ About  and post the Client Build Number

It may be worth removing any "Saved States" from the users Access Point screen.

On the Access Point, Select "View Details" under the app icon and the click on "Remove last Document State"

then do one thing take a copy of the application and rename it with diffrent name and test it give the access to you and that user and check if it is working fine with you then might be issue with client machine or Ajax. and that happen for a perticular application or all application. if it is perticaular one application then it might be some file got correpted.

Hello,

It should be about .shared files (users creating their own charts, bookmarks etc).

Shared files also explode if the session recovery option is open. Try not using that option since in most scenarios it is not useful but also harmful.

We solved the problem, it really was in shared file. We were trying to avoid removing it, but recreating all bookmarks and reports will be a good practice for customers

Thank you all!

Check out session recovery anyways.

What session recovery does is creating server-side bookmarks that will be used for the same user's next entry; thus pumping up the size of .shared files. Also since this option does not eliminate the unnecessary session bookmarks (the ones belong to older dates), it causes a lot of trouble.

Plus, next time you can use QlikView Power Tools to clean .shared.

Serhan,

Session Collaboration is not being used. It is unticked for the said aplication.

I was not aware of the PowerTools, I will give them a look. Thanks for the heads up.
