I hope there is a simple answer for this. I would like to display Pop up messages for a striaght table when a user hovers over a specific column. This Pop up message would contain information about the data in the column and how it is used.
Thanks in Advance,
Dan
Thanks Rob,
Using aggr to avoid the filter is certainly nice when that is necessary.
Not super sure how to pass along ideas to Qlik directly...
It would still be great if Qlik would put this in the properties so that it could launch a real hover object than can be text or image or hyperlink or hyperlink auto-launches
Building this seemingly doable property object would really let us design some really cool stuff on really tight screen footprints.
My only thought that they have the shrunk cell popup and adding this would mess with that...but seemingly they could stack those objects or build in screen positioning for object hover.

Hi Rob. I tried using comment to get the popup on QV v11. It didn't work. My QV version is 11.20.12577. Any idea?
Cheng, Can you upload a sample QVW that shows the problem?

Hi Rob,
Thanks for the quick reply. Actually I found that the comment is for displaying when hovering on the column title, not on table cell. Is that correct?
And I tried your another solution on Cell Popups in Straight Table | Qlikview Cookbook. The solution works great at first, however, in this case, if user clicks on any value of that column (with concatenated popup text), this selected filter cannot be cleared using the clear button on the table. Any suggestion?
That's an interesting side effect I hadn't noticed before, but I never use the Clear icon. The only workaround I can think of is to replace the clear icon with your own button.

Hi Rob,
Your solution works perfectly fine for me, but just wanted to know whether the pop up will work when the dimension are in Cyclic Groups
Please help
Arjun,
DEfine the calculated dimension in the groups dialog using the "add expression" button.

Hi rob,
I tried the comment field in script and also in chart properties , these two are working for dimensions in both straight and pivot tables but I am not able to get them for the expressions.
PFA qvw file with some data.
Thanks
Kiran Kumar
For expressions. you must set the comment in the Comment property of the Expressions sheet. Field comments do not propagate through to expressions.

Forgot to post , actually I missed out the property on expressions tab, thanks Rob for coming back.
Thanks
