Problem with performance - How to turn-off Hiperthreading

Hi guys,

I have a problem with my qlickview doc.

It works fine till is running on my PC.

Problems come up when the customer try to use the document through the access point.

Sometimes it runs perfectly, sometimes it's very slow.

Hi have to find a way to do some tuning on the server.

I've just read that a possible help is to turn off the Hyper-threading

I went on my managemenet consolle but I didn't find anything about it.

Could you pleae help me!?

Do you know how I can turn-off Hyper-threading.

Thanks all in advance

Best regards

Giampiero

Hi,

Hyperthreading is disabled in the BIOS of the Server, so you will need to shut down and reboot the server to be able to open the BIOS settings.

Nevertheless, check if the server is only for QlikView or what exactly is running when the file is going slow, probably because there are other software running on it?

Hope tha thelps.

Hi Miguel,

THANK YOU so much for your help.

I'm going to do a check about your suggestion.

Unfortunately I can manage directly on the server.

Do you have other good advices for me.

Something I can do managing on the qlikview console to improve the performance of our document ?

I really appreciate any other help/suggestion from you.

Best regards

Hi,

There are several things you can do to improve your document, and you will see most of them, if not all, in several discussions in the QlikCommunity in regards to performance.

But if the application runs OK sometimes and sometimes do not, it does not seem to be the app itself, rather than the Server (or, yes, the OS).

Hope that helps.

Sorry Miguel I have to tell you something else about my problem.

Suppose our server is dedicated only to Qlikview.

Now, on our server runs more the one qlik document.

One of theme is our application.

Is it possible that when some customers use simultaneously different documents the server has some problem to manage this situation?

For instance, If three customer start to use three different documents at the same time can we have a problem ?

In case, is it possible to do something to solve that problem

Best regards

Hi,

Indeed, if the other documents are large enough as to use lots of memory and need lots of CPU, that may degrade performance overall, not only for your application. Note that any document that is opened is put into memory, and every user that accesses it, adds some additional percentage of memory. But you can check that easily with the Windows Task Manager, and see how much RAM is being used and how are CPUs behaving.

There is little you can do in this case: either close the other documents while you show yours, or increase the hardware of the server in order to allow more users to work with more documents.

Hope that helps.

Hi Miguel,

I'm understanding what you're telling to me.

This could be a big problem because we can't do so much to improve the performances.

The only way is to increase the hardware of our server.

Thank you so much Miguel

I learned something good about qlik and performances thanks to you.

Best regards
