I'm using Ver 9.0 Personal Edition. I have created a qvw file using the Personal Edition. However, when opening the qvw file with the Personal Edition, I am prompted that a license key file is missing and the qvw file cannot be opened and I have to use the recovery process to open it (there appears to be some limit on how many times this can be done). (Sorry the prompt is no longer displayed so I don't have the exact message). I'm confused because I created the qvw file within the my Personal Edition and I am opening it within my Personal Edition. I have already performed the recovery a few times within the last few days and only have 2 occurences remaining. Any ideas on why this is occuring? I have spent considerable time creating multiple pages and charts and don't want to have to recreate this.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Kristoffer,
I would be glad to - thank you in advance for your help - here you go.
Rick
SQL Server crashed on the upload of the screenshot - let's try that again. 🙂
OK - I finally got my file to load!! Do you want to know my secret? I got a temporary license for my QVPE 10 that lasts a week or so and viola, my file loads with no other changes.
So...I wonder what happens when my license expires? Hmm....
pls open with no data in that case you will not lose your design and script.
Rick, good that you got a temporary license. When the license expires, your QlikView will revert back to Personal Edition, but hopefully, your file will work again. The error message you posted usually appears when the file is broken. Also, this error message will show up when someone has tried to modify the "personal-edition-protection" of a qvw file, but there may be other reasons to why it shows up as well...
I have installed QV 10.00.8811.6 SR1 32-bit version and get the same error (QV's exceeded the maximum number of document recoveries allowed for PE license ... ) - when I try to open qvw file, created by me 2-3 sec ago. Any ideas?
I have the same problem with the Personal Edition. "This file contains inconsistancies and cannot be opened by Personal Edition"
Apparently there is no solution for this item.
This discussion is 2 years old and nobody could resolve it nor to approximate to a solution.
I would like to buy QlikView but this error makes me feel unsure. I have lost a lot of work and I wouldn't like buying a product that makes me lose my work in spite it is so useful as powerful. It is really a shame.
Hi,
I got the same problem too.I'm unable to open my existing QV file created by me.whenever i open it it's hitting an edit with message "Your installation of Qlikview has exceeded the maximum number of document recoveries allowed for a personal edition license.
Though i'm connected to the LAN where another laptop is being used. But i never faced such problem so far.
Can you please let me know how to resolve this issue?
Thanks.
Hi:
I couldnt repair the file but I think that could discover why the soft damage your files.1) ¡ Never open the file if you are not connected to internet ! It damage the files.2) Make a back up of your file (example: Myshop) in the same folder with a similar name (example: "Myshop2").3) Work always with (Myshop) if its damaged again you will be able to use (Myshop2).4) Sorry about my poor english.
Marcelo
I download QlikView free version about 7 days back and kept working on one single document. I was the only one working on it and always from the same laptop. Since I am connected to LAN, the ip address may have changed from time to time. QV kept showing messages that said I have limited number of attempts to open documents created by others. This did not make sense at all because I was the only user. Now the document does not open at all and says I have used all attempts. Is there any way to recover the file? Otherwise I will lose all my work from last whole week.
