Dear Community,
The size of my QWV files has increased enormously after our QV client and server upgrade to version 12.
I did not changed anything inside the file. And also the data basis does not explain the size grows. That must have something to do with the technical background.
Maybe someone of the community has an idea what happened.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Hi, what rate of increase?
Hi,
The file size of e.g. one main cockpit has increased from about 370MB to 530MB.
In avg. over all cockpits I can see a growth around 30-40% of the original size.
Hi!
A customer of ours has asked Qlik Support on this topic, as we have seen a .qvw that has grown from 1GB in QV11.20 to 3 GB in QV12.10SR3 with "High Compression".
There's now a Knowledgebase Articel on this topic. See below. From our experience QV12.10 is a little bit faster loading the data. However - as the filesize is larger - storing to a network drive takes much longer --> overall the task execution duration has slowed down in QV12.10.

You might encounter that after saving a QlikView app in QlikView 12, the disk space usage of the file becomes higher than with version 11.20.This is due to the new data structure in QlikView 12 being harder to compress with out compression algorithm. Setting the compression to "None" in the Document Properties of the app will show you that you still have the same file size in both versions. The new structure will have no negative effect on the functionality or performance of the app, only the file size when using compression is bigger. The reason for the new data structure in QV12 is to increase the performance of reloading data and using the application. If file size is a critical issue you can still improve the compression of the application by sorting your tables in the load script manually during reload (but this will impact reload speed of course). |
