I extracted the general guidelines for Data Modeling in the beginning of Chapter 4. There is no example showing how each step is done, in that chapter or anywhere else in the book. Can someone give me an example which fits into the steps given below ? Is this really a general outline of how companies do it in their projects ?
1 - Divide the ER schema into separate business processes. Each process is modeled into a separate star schema.
2 - Declare the granularity of the business process.
3 - Group the measures in the business process into a single fact table.
4 - Remaining tables are flattened into dimensional tables directly linked to the fact table using a single key.
