Qlikview 9 does not exit out of memory errors gracefully

I have been using qlikview 8.2 for a while now and recently switched to Qlikview9. After about a week of use i have gone back to 8.2. Reason: Out of object memory errors ALWAYS result in the application bombing out completely. furthermore, i cant even open the qvw file afterwards because it gets corrupt and qv simply says "unable to open file". I've lost tons of work this way and now have like 10 backups for everything.

In ver 8.2 when there is an object mem error it simply writes that on the chart etc affected and puts a cross on it, but allows you to move to other pages in qv and filter parameters to limit the data.thereafter your chart can open. In 9, any attempt to move to any other location within qlikview simply brings a new window again showing that you are out of memory.you close them until they eventually close qv as a whole.

My question, is there an optimal setting or some tweak i could use so that instead of completely failing and closing qv it would behave like ver 8.2? Its really frustrating.

My PC Spec

XP Proffesional sp3 with 4 Gigs of ram (hp elitebook 8730w) and about 2gig free at any one time.(ie i care about and keep a close eye on mem usage)

Thanks

In 8.5 - don't know about 9 - you have to set this behavour manually by going in Settings, User preferences, Objects and change Calculation Progress Information from Verbose to Normal.

You might be able to do that in 9 also - give it a try.

And btw did you know. Even if your QV app crashes and you thing everything is lost you can recover it. Right click the app in Explorer, choose Properties and there is a tab called Previous versions from where you can restore.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I'll change to Normal and see. On the lost stuff, i actually did go and try and recover but most of them tend to be corrupt such that qv wont open them at all. so nowadays i'm just careful and keep diff versions and copies.

Thanks again
