Qlikview - Steps to get Qlikview Server/Publisher

I only have the Qlikview Desktop 11.20 SR12 and I'm are very confuse about the Qlikview Server/Publisher installation. I'm using the reference manual to understand the “architecture” of the process, but I am getting serious difficulties to understand which steps I have to make to install de Qlikview Server. I've the following questions:

  • Advantages of having the Qlikview Desktop versus Server
  • Qlikview Desktop can have a Scheduling process?
  • Which permissions I need to have to install the Qlikview Server/Publisher (account manager, etc.)

Thank you very much!

I have a license code to QLikview 11.20 SR12. But It is a different license, right? Sorry for the confusing...

What is the exact name of the license you have?

Alternatively, enter your license on this website and copy-paste the result:

Manual LEF

And no worries; nobody can use that text without knowing your control number. When in doubt, remove the first line of what that website gives you as it will show your license code.

License

Enabler

File

When your machine is connected to the web, this is picked up during the licensing process automatically. When you are not connected to the web, which is the case for some servers, you need to use that website to get it and copy it to the server you need to license.

But in this case we are just abusing it to figure out what kind of license you have  exactly .

That looks like a Local Client license, not a server license.

With that license you can only license your QlikView local client and it will run out (in other words, turn back to Personal Edition) on January 16th 2016.

Looking at your initial question:

You do not need a license to install a QlikView server. It will, however, be completely useless without a license.
