Dear QV community members,
Some fields in the script have non friendly names that we can change in the objects with labels.
But when selecting them their original field names names appear in the "Current Selections" box.
Is there a way to make rename these field names also in the "Current Selections" box without renaming them in the script?
Thank you in advance
Thank you Lucian,
But the link is not available.
Tony
try again now
Thank you again Lucian,
Correct me if I am wrong. I think this is a suggested idea and not yet available.
Tony,
You are right. The field names displayed in the Current Selections box is the field name you set in the script, and for the time being is not possible to change them in that object.
But you can create "your own" Current Selections in a text object based on this idea:
=Replace(GetCurrentSelections(), 'FIELDNAME_IN_SCRIPT', 'Field')
This is a very basic idea, but that might work. That will show the values selected in that field prefixed by the smarter capitalize "Field" instead of the uppercase "FIELDNAME_IN_SCRIPT". Of course, you can give that names in the script, which will be faster and clearer, although harder.
Hope that helps.
Miguel
Thank you Miguel
I'll give it a try and get back to you
Tony
I tried it.
It is as you said basic. It solved part of the issue but will will omit all benefits of the "Current Selections" principle. Neither filter nor locked/unlocked options are available.
In all cases thank you Miguel.
Tony
tsalameh, for what reason are you not renaming or aliasing the column names in the script? Is it the amount of work involved or some other reason?
The reason is that there is a main qvw generating the data and there are 4 other applications.Any change in this main will oblige the developpers of the 4 depending applications to do adapt for those changes. Until now they refuse and consider it a hard work for them. I think at the end they will have to.
