Hello,
I have an app which was developped with QlikView 11.20.12742.0 SR10 64-bit Edition (x64) and is still running on the server with this version.
Is there a risk to modify it on another computer with version 11.20.12904.0 SR12 64-bit Edition (x64), and then deploy it to the initial server (still in SR10)?
To be clear, when modifying it, I don't add anything that is not supported in SR10, so I don't see how it could be an issue, but I prefer to be reassured about that.
And does it change anything if I re-modify it with SR10 afterwards (before reloading/publishing)?
I think the risk of any incompatibility between SR10 and SR12 will be quite small but you can't exclude it completely. In general it's recommended not to mix up different releases between multiple development machines and the server.
Maybe an upgrade from all clients and the server to SR16 is a consideration (of course there is already QV 12.1 SR2 but this is a new major-release and an upgrade would need more efforts)?

Hi,
As per my knowledge,Doing changes in Qv higher version and then deploying on qv lower version, there might be small problem(which is in ur case).BUt vice versa I don't think there will be any.
In your case while you deploy it test the changes as effect will be minute to No at all.

I cannot upgrade the target environment to more recent versions (risk of regressions, needs testing, and there is noone to take care of that for now).
I have a more recent version on my desktop, and I can't downgrade it either because I have other ongoing developments using SR12 (other project, other client, not the same version).
So this means I can't develop on my computer I guess 😕
Thanks for your answers
I could imagine that this won't be an isolated case by people from Qlik or Partners but I don't know how they practically handle it - probably by using multiple VM's ...

Hi,
I faced this problem,But didn't see much functionalities getting effected.

Hi,
A while ago I was doing some development in 11.20 SR5 (which has been mistakenly installed on my laptop instead of SR9) and I deployed this app on server with SR9. In general everything was ok except of one thing - one column was missing. Users could still see it through Access Point, but it wasn't there when I tried to open QVW locally. It took me a while to figure out what was wrong, but fortunately for me, quick upgrade to SR9 on my laptop fixed this problem. So - some issues are possible when you're operating between 2 different versions.
Maybe best idea for you would be to have 2 separate PC's, laptop or at least a VM as Marcus mentioned, that could simulate another OS with different release of QV 11.20
Good luck,
Yeah,
Apps developed on higher vers and put on lower will have minute and unpredicted problems.I too have encountered this.So Testing is must in that case!
