Hi,
I have just set up a SECTION ACCESS restriction on my current document so business users can access my document and see all the data, but not make any changes and/or overwrite my document by saving.
That was actually simple enough and not too time-consuming, together with adapting some document- and sheet-level settings for the users, and it seems to work fine.
I would have liked to omit the issue of logon data entirely for all other users except myself. Is there a way to just show like a "Full access" button that will lead to a logon query for myself and a "Proceed" button for everyone else?
Thanks a lot!
Best regards,
DataNibbler
You could try using NTName login instead. That would allow them to login automatically as users, and you as admin.
Hi Anders,
do you mean that when I use NTNAME, the users (who are by default already logged on to their computer/ to their domain) will be logged in automatically?
But then, I would have to specify the rights of every individual user, wouldn't I? That's not the objective - I want to distinguish merely between myself and everyone_else because I don't know how many users and who might access my document.
Best regards,
DataNibbler
If you speficy in the 'access' column of section access that they are a 'USER' or 'ADMIN' then it will apply that to the document.
Well yes as standard, but you could try and specify * as NTNAME so all users will be able to log in as users, and then specify your user as admin.
Do not know if it works though.
Something like this:
SECTION Access;
LOAD * INLINE [
ACCESS, NTNAME
ADMIN, DOMAIN\FRIEDRICH.HOFMANN
USER, *
];
It's something I can try.
Thanks for helping! I will let you know if it worked.
