Scheduled reload fails on server

Hi everyone,

I have the following problem that i need help with if possible please.

My client has a scheduled reload that fails on the server but works from the client. They have around 20 scheduled reloads in total and this is the only one that fails.

It is scheduled to run when nothing else is scheduled, so it's not clashing with anything.

This is the log i am getting.

Does anyone have any idea what is wrong?

Many thanks

Chris

I had the same issue and it was a problem with the string connexion to the data base. Make sure to use the correct ODBC connector. In my case, I had a string like this

"ODBC CONNECT TO ..."

and as it was a 64bit server I place replace it with "ODBC CONNECT64 TO..." and it worked. Check ODBC on the help for more info.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Surely if the connection string was wrong it wouldnt work through the desktop client would it? It works as expected through the client, just not the server.

Please re-read my post. I had the same problem and that's how I fixed it (even if it worked in client desktop). The client might have a different windows versino etc. Now it's upto you to try it or not. Good luck

Hi,

Have you tried to run the QlikView desktop as the same account tha runs the QVServices ie. runs the tasks in QVServer?

Hi, no i havent tried that. Would that make a difference?

I am currently logged onto the server and running the desktop client under my login.

so you are saying to try and log onto the machine as the Qlikview Service user and run try and refresh from the desktop client?

I recall having some sort of issue with this a long time ago, looking at your problem one of the things that are different between the server and the client is the actual "user" performing the reload. Just try "shift" and rightclick QV to "run as different user" to run the client as QVService. Just a few clicks is worth trying, just run a limited reload in debug to save time.

I am waiting for the credentails for the user associated to the services to try this out.

I have just tried doing a limited load from my account though but it takes a very long time.

Which ever way i perform the reload (limited or normal from the client) it takes over an hour before it actually starts doing anything! i am assuming its trying to make the connection to the database.

I am wondering if its why its failing on the server, as the log says that the document hasnt responded for 1800 seconds. - maybe its failing because the connection to the database is taking too long?

I don't know much about the database as we have been called in to maintain these applications so we didnt actually create them for the client.
