Select a date to display only active projects

Hi folks,

I was asked to build a Gantt chart to view two project phases, design and construction. Furthermore, the client asked to implement this functionality that for a given time point t0, only display active projects in the Gantt chart (i.e., those projects whose either design or construction phase covers the given time point t0). Suppose the each entry in the dataset (excel sheet) has three dates, design starting date (ds), design ending date or construction starting date (de), and construction ending date (ce).

Any ideas how to implement this selective display of active projects? Any input is greatly appreciated!
