Select vs Load

Hi Guys,

Is load only used when we want to use the functions of Qlikview like IF statements.

Please explain the difference between the two.

Select is used to load data from databases such as Oracle and can have LOAD in the preceding load. Within Select you can do transformation which are allowed within your database. QlikView's transformation won't work in Select if those are not supported by your database. The reason that this happens is because Select takes QlikView to the database end to get data and brings transformed data into QlikView.

Within Load is QlikView's transformation. You won't be able to perform your databases's transformation function within LOAD because this is QlikView's arena now.

Does that make sense?
