I am sorting and my 3rd level sort is a week number that by way of an expression is suppose to sort on an external date.
Anyone aware of any problems regarding the above?
Thanks Albert
Albert,
you need to describe your problem with a bit more detail:
- you are sorting ... what? a Pivot Table? a Graph, etc?
- what do you call an "External Date"? How is it associated with the Week number?
Generally speaking, sorting in Pivot tables is somewhat limited, so a third level sorting condition might be tricky. However, you need to describe your problem to get any recommendations or solutions
I will try again>
I have 4 levels that I am looking at. I tried this in a pivot Table and in a normal table, both gives me the same results.
1. Client code
2. Destination
3. Week
4. Date
In setting up the sort number 1, and 2 above is standard alpha a-z
The week however i used an expression that refers to Date that is my 4th Dimension
an then I sort the date in standard numeric Ascending.
Hope this makes more sense
Thanks Albert
Albert, I understand what you are trying to do, but not so much what the problem is...
If your weeks are not sorted right, it is probably because of your sorting expression (can you paste it here?). Since there are multiple Dates per week, you need to aggregate Dates for the sorting expression.
I believe that the following should work as a sorting expression:
min(Date)
Start from a straight table. Once you make it work, try making it work in a Pivot table, even though it can be tricky at times.
cheers,
Hi Oleg
Thanks One problem solved. I did not use min(date) only date.
But what I subsequint found that it works when I selected a specific Owner (Level above the week refer to previous mail) but as soon as I clear all the problem comes back. I did send a copy of the model for John Huston QlikView South Africa for his input as well. He confirmed the problem and will also look into it
Thanks Albert
If you'd like to post a sample here, we could take a look as well...
Morning Oleg (SA time)
As I was out of the office I was not able to persue this problem. The problem has not been resolved. How do I go about sending you a compressed example. About 2Mb in size. Where do I attach it or do I send it directly to you.
Thanks Albert
Albert,
you can simply attach it to the post - I believe 2 MB is OK... Then either myself or someone else will be able to review it.
