Sum one dimension into a monthly dimension

I am having trouble trying to present monthly information on a bar chart. I am currently collecting a data input that is captured on a daily basis (dimension 1) and trying to present that sum on a monthly basis (dimension 2). I currently have my dimensions set as 'Month' and my expressions follow this format; COUNT({$}{<Med1={'3','1'}>} Eyes_Today_Date_Saved). When I change my dimensions to 'Eyes_Today_Date_Saved' it shows all dates on the chart. What I am trying to do is have it sum 'Eyes_Today_Date_Saved' for each 'Month' and have that information presented on the chart.

Dimension: 'Months' = May-2015, June-2015, July-2015

                    'Eyes_Today_Date_Saved' = 5/15/2015, 5/19/2015, 5/25/2015, 6/5/2015, 6/11/2015, 6/18/2015, 6/26/2015, 7/3/2015, 7/6/2015
