Synthetic keys importance

Can someone please explain about the concept of synthetic keys and their usage if any. Want to know how a synthetic table is formed when two tables are joined and two tables are concatenated.

I think the Qlik Sense Help are defining and explaining the synthetic keys in a good way. The concept of composite keys are handled the same in both QlikView and Qlik Sense.

I quote:
When two or more data tables have two or more fields in common, this suggests a composite key relationship. Qlik Sense handles this by creating synthetic keys automatically. These keys are anonymous fields that represent all occurring combinations of the composite key.
