Hi Experts,
I have a table which talks about a person activities in an organisation.
For example, activities done by John performing two roles as an Employee and as an Officer2.
Since John can't be both Employee and Officer2 his name exist only in one of these fields. Hence, selection of John in both these fields is becoming unassociated in terms of Qlikview.
However, I have to display what John has done all together.
How can I achieve this?
Please find the attached QVW as sample.
Any help here is highly appreicated.
Regards,
Shyam.
May be like attached sample:
Note: Assuming you want to select in Employee field and see the result. For both field selection flexibility you might have to play a bit more with it.
Without association you can't able to show the relationship.it would be better if you can create inline table for creating association as per your requirement. So that relationship would be created and results would be displayed.
Thanks,
Deepak

Thank you all for the responses.
My requirement is to let the user search for John and see what activities he has done.
This should include John as Employee and as Officer 2.
However, since John can't be both while being on activity each record will have john only once.
This is resulting in unassociation between the records.
And because of this I am unable to search with John and enter to see all john results.
Any suggestions please?
Hi Shyam,
What would be the expected output when john selected? I think, tresesco suggestion looks fine for me..
Sorry, Please accept apologies for my ignorance.
I forgot to notice that Tresesco suggestion actual meets my requirement. Thanks Tresesco.
However, now the other challenge is two reflect this selection in a few charts of my dashboard.
Now the selection works based on Tresesco suggestion.
But How do i reflect in a few charts that I have in dashboard?
Should i use similar formula as below in all charts and hide? I appreciate any other suggestions here.
=Only({$+<Employee,[Officer 2]={"$(vEmp)"}>}Incidents)
Regards,
Shyam
Replace your existing expressions with the expression I suggested (or similar), rather than hiding it.
Hi Tresesco,
I have charts which counts various Activities, like incidents, responses, transports by date and other dimensions.
Can you please suggest what you meant?
Also, my requirement is bit more tricky. Sorry if my earlier posts were tricky.
I thought to get some idea and then try by myself. However, it looks like complex than i thought.
Please find the updated sample QVW that has more columns.
Regards,
Shyam.
Hi Again,
Can I try the attached solution?
I have created a new concatenated (Union) table for employee and joined with the main table. My requirement is like the one which i did below in attached QVW.
Request suggestions and ideas on this.
Regards,
Shyam.
