Hi,
I have been going through the posts, and wanted to understand how the post points work. Why a simple reply gets 7 points and a question only 1. Or some time the other way round.
Any Idea?
Thanks for your help.
Merely posting seems to only give you one point. Earch person replying to your specific post (not just your thread) adds six points. I'm not sure about the other rules. Frankly, I don't like the system even if it's given me a lot of points - it provides very little information, and the information it does provide is very subjective. The previous system of simply showing your post count didn't provide a lot of information either, but at least it was an objective fact rather than some wishy-washy thing like points.
The points can also give results that run counter to at least my intuition of what the points should show.
For instance, let's say that only two people are using the forum, Ann and Bob. Bob barely understands QlikView, and ALWAYS asks the questions. Ann is a QlikView genius, never asks questions, and ALWAYS provides the right answer to Bob in her very first response. Bob never thanks Ann for her answers. As best I can tell, the current rules would then give Bob SEVEN TIMES more points than Ann. That just seems nonsensical.
they should use a system similar to yahoo answers, where the quality of the answers and questions gets more points.
