Hi,
Can anyone answer if its free to use Google Map in QlikView.
I this case the wish is to use Google Maps in a QlikView Intranet solution (internal in the company).
When i look at http://code.google.com/apis/maps/index.html it seams that a "Google Maps API Premier"-license is needed, but im not sure if I have read this correct - also that the price starts at $10.000 as a yearly fee.
I can of couse ask google, but if any one know.
Henrik
Hi,
Better ask Google 😉
Some time ago, when I test Google Maps + QV, I get this API key for free, but there was some limitations. One of them was (oh my sclerosis) 150? requests per 24h. So you must plan how many times QV aplication will run.
Regards,
Andris
You are correct. Check the FAQ and you'll see that this is the case.
For internal projects you will need to pay for a premier license. There is also a limit as to how many markers you can use on a map without using a premier license so it is somewhat limited. I think I posted a comment about this somewhere before but I'm not sure.
I also don't think that Qliktech is aware of this as they seem to be promoting the use of Qlikview and Google Maps pretty hard as well. Though I guess that's not a problem for Qliktech as they mainly get their earnings from licenses and not from the consulting part.
I wonder what Google has to say if you were to use it in a public application as part of a qlikview website though, using an uncapped license. I guess that would be ok.
EDIT: As far as I know, the premier license would be needed if you were to use the GeoCoding (Street name to coordinates) tools in larger scale as well. But don't take my word for it.
It could be nice if QlikTeck would comment on your points Jonas. Specialy if they have another angle on this, cause +$10.000 a year is a lot of money for a Intranet soultion in many companies.
Thanks Andris and Jonas!
The only case which does not require to give money to google is when the page showing your map is when the web page including your map is publicly available (no username/password nor money needed). Anything else requires a Google Premier license.
If you want to include maps in a QlikView application, you should have a look at GeoQlik (http://www.geoqlik.com).
Thanks,
I will take a look a GeoQlik.
