What is the best way to start the fact table

Hello all

I am new to QlikView, but I have do have some basic knowledge on data warehousing.  My first question: is do we need to build it like a DWH?

For this database, it has 10 tables, the only thing common across those 10 tables are Company Name, Month and Year, and there are some dimensions that exist in more than 1 table, e.g. Country.  And none of those 10 tables are dimensions.

Table 1 - Company, Name, Month, Year, item A, item B, item C

Table 2  - Company, Name, Month, Year, item A, item D, item E, item F, item G

Table 3  - Company, Name, Month, Year, item H, item I, item J, item K, item L

Table 4  - Company, Name, Month, Year, item C, item L, item M, item N, item O

etc

Is creating a big fact table to concatenate all tables are the best way?  What should be the best practice to link those tables together?

Or creating link tables using the common items the better method?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Phyllis

Hi Phyllis,

I think a big fact table is a very good solution. Joined to this, a calendar table and all the masters with the detail of the foreign keys in the fact table. I attach you a manual.
