What's '%' in front of the variable really do ?

HI guys ,

I'm new to qlikview , saw some example that peoploe have '%variable' from LOAD & SQl SELECT statement, Can anyone please let me know what does it really do that that variable ?

That's often used to indicate a key field. It's a naming convention only. It doesn't 'do' anything by itself. If you set the hideprefix variable you can hide the fields starting with the prefix you set so users don't see them.
