• Your PC is busy.
• Slow or varying hard disk access.

Depending on your query, the database performs a series of steps in order to fetch the output rows. QlikView is just passing the query and then waits for the result.

If it's a production database, there might be other processes that are blocking your query.

So, try to optimize the database performance. If that's not enough, maybe you should use incremental loading.
