Hi Experts,
I am beginner in Qlikview. I always get stuck while writing expressions. I want to become comfortable in this area rather than getting intimidated. Could you please guide the resources from where I can start learning them, like understanding structure, functionality, using multiple expressions in the same formula etc..
Regards,
Suraj
Hello Suraj,
Assuming that you are from computer science background. If not, I would suggest you to learn first and foremost a basic programming language like BASIC/C. Specifically the loops (IF-THEN-ELSE, FOR, DO-WHILE). Then learn some basics(Primary Key, Joins, Normalization ...) of database. This will give you basic strength to move to QlikView development world. Once you are armed, try to understand how various concepts like Set Analysis, AGGR, Count(If()) Vs If(Count()) work; what is the approach of evaluation of expession. You would get materials for these in the forum. But my suggestion would be to try different combinations with those expressions on your own. This littile R&D would give you a lot more confidence and you would hardly forget the learning got in your practical experience.
Try yourself again and again to break and at last community is there for you.
Hi Suraj,
Practice all the expressions with examples in the Set Analysis section of the Qlikview Help file, it covers all the set analysis topics, and then Practice more, Practicing hard will give you command over Set Analysis. Hope this helps you.
Use below URL to generate Qlikview expressions.
Set Analysis Wizard for QlikView | qlikblog.at

jagan.
As a start, Look for Reference Manual here in the forum.
Regards.
I would start with free training at qlik.com,
Then I would buy "Practical QlikView" by Mark O´Donovan its a very usefull book
