YTD Dynamic Calculation

Can u guys help me out

i want to calculate YTD dynamically.

My finacial year starts from Oct to Sep

what i want is suppose i select May 2009

then my YTD should calculate from Oct-2008 to May-2009 value and this should happen dynamically for any combination

I achvd this with set analysis but it failed in browser deployment i could see the YTD value from client machine.

Is there any alternate method.
