If the chart has any triggers set, shift+Ctrl to move text will not work.
if i create a new chart object from scratch and define all properties for dimensions/expressions etc etc the i can move text around with ctrl+shift but i dont want to have to go thru this process and would prefer to understand wot to do if possible - thanks
Hi,
Make sure you have all the design options available first. Go to the Settings menu in QlikView Desktop, and select User Preferences, Design tab. Click on "Always Show Design Menu Items".
The object may not allow that, so once done the above, go to the chart properties, Layout tab, Options and make sure all Allow Move/Size and so are clicked. If not, do that.
Finally, check the sheet properties, right click on any empty space and go to the Security tab. Make sure that Move / Size Sheets objects is enabled.
Hope that helps.

If the chart has any triggers set, shift+Ctrl to move text will not work.
Ctrl + Shift over Charts wont work, because you shall use this command to move the chart's content, like title, legend and plot area. See that when you hold Ctrl +Shift these areas of the chart becomes highligthed with a red border that you can move and resize.
So, if you want to resize the object Chart, do not hold ctrl + shift keys.
well done mwoolf !!! - your solution was correct !!! the triggers caused the issue and after removing them all was perfect !! appreciate your help very much - paul in israel
Thanks much. I had the same issue and your suggestion was very helpful. Thanks again.

I know a working solution for clapperp's (the original poster) problem has been found, but for the benefit of others, I ran into a separate issue with the same symptoms (Ctrl-Shift wouldn't allow me to move/resize anything on a chart, etc.)
First, some background. At our company, we don't do our Qlikview development on our local machines - we remote in to a dedicated server/development box and build our reports from there (that works better for us than local development). I was unable to Ctrl-Shift and move things around - the red borders appeared, but clicking to drag/resize things wouldn't work.
I discovered that the problem was that my default remote desktop hotkey settings were overriding Qlikview's hotkeys. So, Ctrl+Shift+Left Mouse Click was being translated by my RDP into "Right Click", instead of allowing me to grab an item in a Qlikview chart.
Hope this is helpful to someone.
of course to develop on a server is the way - that is no surprise -
