how to get current season code from list(season_code feild)

Hi

i want to define a variable as current_sales in which i want to write case statement for getting current sales

if sold_month is between aug to dec then i should have value as 17A , 18A ,19A etc... whichever season code is latest in my season _code field.

otherwise i  want  sold_month  from jan to july so for that values will be 17P ,18P and etc.....
