number of rows and volume of an qvw

Hi

let's say a qlikview document will hold 1 million rows and  the size on disk is 250 MB, if the qvw grows to 2 million rows will the size become 500 MB? knowing the field values are not similar and there is no compression whatsoever.

many thanks

No The app it self would need some space as well. so this would not be the case exactly.

Hi,

maybe load diffrent numbers of rows (0.1 M, 0.2M, ......) and then you can draw a trend for the file size and extrapolate.

You can use too QV optimizer for .mem analyse to see sizes of different objects

No, you couldn't calculate the needed spaces in this way because Qlik stored the data not like a database or a csv else in data- and symboltables (only distinct fieldvalues are stored and linked with bit-stuffed pointers to the datatable). Quite often the space per record will be lesser the much more records are included. More background could you find here: Symbol Tables and Bit-Stuffed Pointers - a deeper look behind the scenes.
