oem to ansi conversion

Hello,

I' am trying to convert characters from oem to ansi this way:

ODBC CONNECT TO [file] (codepage is 437);

LOAD applycodepage(name, 1252) as Vorname

SQL SELECT *

FROM XXX

It does not work.

Does anybody know how it really works ?
