Hi,
we changed qv10 to qv11 about 3 weeks ago and we figured out that we can built our dynamic charts now with conditions for the expressions and dimensions cause it worked a lot quicker. but a lot of problems came around the pivoting wasnt working right if not all dimensions were selected and the sorting in a straight table wasnt working if not all expressions weren't selected. so we decided to use macros again. it takes a lil longer to build the chart but we can live better with this fact than not being able to sort. but now we changed everything back to the macro that was working perfectly and it won't work in firefox no more. In ie plugin it is working fine.
does anyone know why it aint working no more? Or does anyone have a solution for it?
regards,
MT
can someone please help me???
can somenone at least explain me why macros in firefox are not working???

MT
MT,
Macros could have issues with AJAX plug-in. When you are using firefox you would be using the AJAX plug-in. In the IE plug-in macros work fine. Can you confirm what plug-in you use in firefox. I assume its not the browser that is the issue here but the plug-in.
thanks,

yes I'm using the Ajax plug-in. but why was it working before that is my big questionmark!!! i can post my macro so you can check if it should work. or you can tell me without looking at it why it is not working no more. thanks a lot for you help

Hi MT,
When you last tested were you using IE plug-in and now you are using AJAX plug-in. I have always had issues with the macros working in the AJAX plug-in. Let me know. Ideally we recommned to have the IE plug-in and make it a mandate for the end users that they use IE Plug-in. In case you use the AJAX plug-in make sure that you build the dashboard with Web View enabled, see how the controls get delivered when seen in Ajax. Both would look to some extent different. Normally I would avoid using the Macros if i know that the enjd usage is going to be both for IE Plug-in and teh AJAX plug-in as well.
thanks,

before we upgradet we tested with AJAX plug-in and it was working fne. and like I explained at the begining we started using conditions for the dimensions and expressions but this is costing us too many problems with sorting and pivoting. so we actually need the macro bakc again but it is not working anymore!!! And it should be working in the AJAX-plugin because most of my colleges are using firefox or the ipad (safari).
in IE-Plug-in it is working without any problems but we don't want to force the endusers to use the Internet Explorer. (It would make us quiet a lot of work)
Also could you please put an alert box in the macro and print a "hello world", if teh macro fails tehn this alert will never pop-up.

how can i do this with or without alternating states?
Sorry, I made a mistake here, see corrected post below.
HI MT,
Hope its not the alternating states thats causing this to happen. I am not sure of Alternating states the issue you are facing.
Can you try these scenarios.
Dashboard with Macro and no dynamic dimensions and expressions in QV10 using FireFox - Works or Not Works?
Dashboard without Macro and have dynamic dimensions and expressions in QV11 using FireFox - Works or Not Works?
Dashboard with Macro and no dynamic dimensions and expressions in QV11 using FireFox - Works or Not Works?[Checking if the macro has issue with AJAX plug-in]
finally the
Dashboard with Macro and with dynamic dimensions and expressions in QV11 using FireFox
You have to make sure that you use the same dashboard with minimal changes and the same device with the same firefox that is causing issues for you now in all the above steps.
thanks,
