Hi,

I am trying to use set analysis functions but unfortumately I don't find any good tutorial explaining the syntax of set analysis.

Hi,

do you had a look at the examples under Share QlikViews ?

E.g. YTD calculations using Set Analysis

Kind regards.

Hi Hugues,

One good starting point is this very forum, just search "set analysis" and you will find tips and hints and samples and explanations even complete working documents related to set analysis.

But first of all, be sure to check and understand the Reference Manual included in your QlikView\Documentation folder.

And do not hesitate to post here your questions!

Hi,

I can but agree with Hugues. I would like some definitive, detailed, and comprehensive documentation from QlikTech. Examples are fantastic but what about doco a la Java class files/methods with some substantial examples. A lot of the doco and examples I've seen is very basic and really doesn't provide depth of detail or show what can be achieved.

I've seen a few sophisticated pieces of set analysis but there's no detailed description about what the developer wanted to achieve or how the code accomplishes this.

Cheers

Hi,

The Qlikview reference manual has details related to Set Analysis (page 1222 in QV9 ref manual). It has detailed explanations on the Set modifiers, Identifiers and Operators.

I guess this might be useful to you.

Hi Haneesh,

Thanks for the reply but I've already gone through the Reference Manual. The examples are OK though basic and I'd like more of the same and more complex examples showing the use of not only set analysis but also how set analysis can be used with aggr, rangesum, above, top, etc.

I think the subject is important enough to warrant a separate document with more examples and approaches.

Cheers,

-Paul

Do you have access to the Customer Portal? It doesn't appear that anyone has officially suggested that QlikTech provide a new manual specific to set analysis. You could suggest it, and if people like the idea and promote it, perhaps QlikTech will write one. That doesn't help you NOW, of course. So about all we can suggest for now is what has already been suggested - the reference manual, shared QlikViews, searching the forum, and asking questions.
