when are brackets ('[' and ']') required around a field name ?

i already know that i need to put brackets around the name of a field containing spaces, and wonder if it is the only case where they are required, or are there other cases ?

Guess it is for all "illegal" characters, like ?/\., etc. It is also of help in INLINE-statements, when you have commas.

You can use brackets or " around the field. Usually you get these when a field name has special characters (most often a space in my case).

Since INLINE already uses brackets itself, you need " around the fields.

You are correct on the INLINE-table - mixed up the cases.

You also need them when trying to name fields using reserved words... like "group".
