When using open desired file by clicking icon and then click remove password, it will go to the server and will get your passwrd removed, and will place a similar file with the name including (filename)Demo). just try it. i did it.
well, if you are really in a hury and have a NVIDIA card (With a CUDA supported Graphics Card, the Processor of the Graphic Card does all the decrypting, which is alot faster than your normal Processor. with the weak excel encryption (standart 40bit) it should be open in under 2 hours (With CUDA ~30 min.).
Password protecting office documents is not really safe. its like protecting your bike by tying it to a post with shoelaces
if your IT department is willing to help, you can use distributed password recovery. the encryption job is distributed to multiple of your machines (10 in the demo) and so, the encyption is speed up by a factor of 9.5 (10-menaging overhead).

if the file is not that confidential, you can let an external SP decryypt it.
