in applymap() field, if null() is not quoted then what will be the o/p in case of no matching

An additional question re. Applymap: it is clear how to use 2 columns just like the VLOOKUP function in Excel.
But what if I would like to add another column to the table?
Like this:
Column 1 item A item B item C
Column 2 value A value A value B
Column 3 descr. 1 descr. 2 descr. 3
Etc. with many more different possibilities.
How would the script look like?

in case you want corressponding values from 'n' fields(column) for any value, then you need yo apply 'n' mapping loads.
